What is an MRA?

A Metropolitan Redevelopment Area (MRA) is a designated area where the City can focus resources and partner with property owners, businesses, and the community to encourage reinvestment, improve public spaces, and support economic development. 

Why is the East Gateway MRA Plan being updated?

The current plan was adopted in 2016. Updating the plan ensures it reflects today's opportunities, challenges, community priorities, and market conditions while creating a roadmap for future revitalization.

What's the purpose of this planning process?

The update will revisit community priorities and needs from the 2016 plan, evaluate existing conditions today, and recommend strategies and projects that improve the East Gateway area for the next 10-15 years, while supporting residents, businesses, and property owners. 

Where is the project area?

The East Gateway MRA generally includes the Central Avenue corridor from Wyoming Boulevard to Tramway Boulevard, along with adjacent properties and activity centers within the adopted MRA boundary.

Who is doing this?

The City of Albuquerque's Metropolitan Redevelopment (MR) Agency is working with Albuquerque-based community planning firm, SITES Southwest, to update this plan. SITES was the firm who wrote the original East Gateway MRA Plan in 2016.
